Polk Mechanical is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to join our high-performing team. The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the overall organization and operation of Polk Mechanical's warehouse, tool inventory, fleet support, material handling, and related facility functions. This position plays an important role in supporting our field operations by ensuring our teams have the tools, equipment, materials, and resources they need - when and where they need them.

 

The successful candidate will be highly organized, safety-focused, service-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Warehouse Operations

• Oversee the day-to-day operation, organization, cleanliness, and security of the warehouse.
• Receive, inspect, unload, and properly store materials, tools, and equipment delivered to the warehouse.
• Coordinate the distribution and delivery of materials and equipment from the warehouse to active jobsites.
• Maintain accurate records of materials and equipment received, stored, transferred, and distributed.
• Ensure the warehouse remains clean, organized, safe, and operationally efficient at all times.
• Identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes, organization, inventory control, and efficiency.

Tool & Equipment Management

• Manage Polk's tool and equipment inventory, including the issuance, transfer, location, and return of tools assigned to jobsites.
• Maintain accurate tracking of tools and equipment currently assigned to each project or location.
• Monitor scheduled tool returns and follow up on overdue or unaccounted-for equipment.
• Coordinate routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs of tools and equipment and maintain appropriate documentation.
• Maintain calibration schedules and records for tools and equipment requiring periodic or annual recalibration.
• Evaluate tool utilization and inventory levels and recommend purchases, replacements, or additional equipment based on operational needs and usage.
• Identify damaged, obsolete, or underutilized equipment and recommend appropriate disposition.

Fleet Management

• Coordinate and maintain assigned fleet vehicles and related records.
• Monitor vehicle maintenance and service schedules to help ensure vehicles remain safe and operational.
• Coordinate repairs, preventive maintenance, inspections, and other fleet-related activities as needed.
• Maintain accurate fleet documentation and records.

Jobsite & Material Support

• Coordinate timely delivery and pickup of tools, equipment, and materials to and from jobsites.
• Retrieve reusable materials, tools, equipment, and scrap with recoverable value from jobsites.
• Ensure returned items are properly identified, inspected, documented, and returned to inventory or routed for repair/disposal as appropriate.
• Partner with field and project teams to anticipate material, equipment, and tool needs.

Facility & Operational Support

• Perform or coordinate minor building and facility maintenance activities as needed.
• Maintain appropriate inventory of warehouse and office consumables, including water, coffee, soft drinks, and related supplies.
• Coordinate meeting room setup as needed, including furniture arrangement and other logistical requirements.
• Support other operational and facility needs as assigned.

Safety Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized warehouse environment.
• Ensure warehouse activities comply with Polk Mechanical safety procedures and applicable requirements.
• Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections of warehouse equipment and immediately address or report unsafe conditions.
• Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in safe working condition before being issued for use.

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse, inventory, logistics, construction operations, or related experience required.
• Previous supervisory or warehouse management experience strongly preferred.
• Experience managing tools, equipment, materials, or inventory in a construction or industrial environment preferred.
• Current forklift certification required, or ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required for positions involving company vehicle operation.
• Strong organizational, planning, and inventory-management skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and effectively track multiple assets across different locations.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills with the ability to work effectively with field employees, project teams, vendors, and leadership.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn inventory, fleet, and company operating systems.
• Ability to prioritize multiple requests and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

This position regularly requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, and working in a warehouse environment. The employee must be able to safely lift, carry, push, and move materials and equipment consistent with the requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. The position may also require operating material-handling equipment and working indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
