Job Overview: This role will provide overall management direction for service projects and will perform additional duties that include developing job estimates, procuring equipment and subcontracts, monitoring and accurately projecting job costs, maintaining billing, project schedules, and providing technical support and leadership to the field. Additional responsibilities include providing oversight with the project's Superintendent on the day-to-day activities of assigned projects. The Service Manager - Special Projects will also develop and maintain long-term customer relationships to foster better communications and develop future work.
Prepare estimates for service projects and larger service repair opportunities.Take ultimate responsibility for projects being completed on time and on budget.Review project estimates and verify the accuracy of entry into the job cost system as well as the accuracy of the initial estimate.Conduct pre-job and continuing planning meetings to ensure all project team members understand contract terms and conditions, clauses, schedules, or any unusual requirements of the project.Document planning meeting results and ensure all action items are completed; develop and keep current all project schedules.Monitor personnel manning schedules to ensure they match project schedules.Visit job sites as required; perform work inspections, check job progress, and resolve project and contract issues.Investigate potentially serious job issues and implement corrective measures.Stay on top of all change orders to ensure they are processed and incorporated into the current scope of work in a timely manner.Provide material takeoff, estimate, and pricing for change orders.Conduct meetings according to customer and company guidelines and schedules.Prepare and submit progress billings and follow up to ensure receipt of payments.Guide the operations team to implement and execute the highest level of customer satisfaction/service, focusing on planning, implementation, and customer communication.
Education: High School Diploma / GED. A Mechanical Engineering degree and/or concrete knowledge is a plus, although not required.Experience: Preferably possess strong knowledge in the area of service plumbing, HVAC service, and installation; Familiar with the setting of equipment such as air handling equipment, plumbing, and other HVAC-type activitiesCertifications / Licenses: None requiredKnowledge, Skills, and Competencies: Superior communication and interpersonal skills; Strong knowledge of service plumbing, HVAC service, and installation; Ability to develop accurate job estimates and monitor job costs; Strong organizational and leadership skills to guide field teams and project schedules; Ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships
